Title I is a federally
funded program that provides educational opportunities to help children
become
successful in school. The Title I Reading Program at Odebolt-Arthur
identifies those elementary students
most in need of reading help and sets goals for improvement. The Title I
reading program is supplemental
to the regular classroom reading program. Students attend Title I classes
individually or in small groups.
These classes meet daily for 25-30 minutes. The Title I teacher and
classroom teachers meet regularly to
coordinate curriculum and determine student progress.
Parent involvement in a critical factor in students' reading development.
Research shows that parental
involvement in education greatly improves student achievement. The
Odebolt-Arthur Parent-School
Compact states the goals and responsibilities of parents, students, and
the school. Daily at-home reading
is an integral part of the Title I program. Parents interact with their
child while reading and discussing books.
By working together we can best meet the reading needs of the students. An
annual meeting is held to give
parents the opportunity to have input into the planning, implementation,
and evaluation of the Title
I Program.
